Kaya Kishimoto was born in Tokyo in 1986. She graduated from Joshibi University of Art and Design, Department of Crafts, Faculty of Art, with a major in dyeing. While still a student, she began exhibiting fabric works. Since 2010, her work has been selected for the Kokuten exhibition every year.
